Alabama Lakewide Charities exists to keep Smith Lake safer — funding and maintaining search and recovery equipment, and training the first responders who use it during emergencies on the water. The charity also supports other local nonprofits in the Lewis Smith Lake area. Spook the Lake, alongside the Poor Man Poker Run, is one of the two major fundraisers that makes that work possible each year.
📱 Works on Any Smartphone
Spook the Lake runs right in your phone's browser — no App Store required. It works on iPhone (Safari) and Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox), plus any regular computer or tablet.
If your browser offers to add Spook the Lake to your Home Screen, go for it! You might see a small popup asking to "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" — that's not a separate app from some app store, it's just a shortcut to this same site that lands right next to your other apps. Once it's added, it opens full-screen with no browser bar, loads faster, and is a lot quicker to get back to on event day than digging up a bookmark.
A couple of quick notes: please browse normally rather than in Private/Incognito mode, since that's what lets your votes, dock checklist, and costume contest picks save correctly on your device. And when the map or location features ask for permission, allowing location access gives you the best experience finding docks and tracking your own position on the water.
